About Littlewood Golf & The Yip Stick
It Started With a Problem Nobody Could Solve
I am Bruce Albright — a Service-Disabled Veteran, a lifelong golfer, and the founder of Littlewood Golf. Like a lot of golfers who have played long enough, I eventually found myself standing over a short putt I had made a thousand times before and simply could not pull the trigger. The harder I tried, the worse it got. What I did not know at the time was that I was not alone — and that what I was experiencing had a name.
Focal dystonia. The yips.
Neurologists now recognize the yips not as a mental weakness or a crisis of confidence, but as an involuntary neurological misfiring — the brain sending the wrong signal to the muscles at the worst possible moment. Knowing the name did not fix the problem. Nothing I tried fixed the problem. Because the real issue was not in my head. It was in my setup.
The Discovery
Standing on the practice green one afternoon, I began experimenting with my stance — opening up my body angle to the hole the way a baseball batter opens to the field. Something shifted. The flinch that had hijacked my stroke for years began to quiet. The more I explored that open diagonal position, the more I realized why it worked — it was removing my dominant hand from the mechanical driver of the stroke, replacing hand and wrist movement with a smooth, shoulder-driven pendulum that the yip response had nothing left to interrupt.
There was one problem. A conventional putter is not designed for an open stance. The moment you open your body angle, the putter head lifts off the ground, the face skews away from the target line, and the lie angle becomes completely wrong. Every conventional putter in my bag failed the moment I found the position that could actually save my game.
So I built one that would not fail.
The Yip Stick
The Yip Stick is the result of that search. Its patented dual bend shaft is engineered specifically to restore correct putter head position, ground contact, and target alignment the moment a golfer takes an open diagonal stance — at whatever angle feels natural to them individually. There is no mandated degree. No rigid system. Just a putter that finally works the way your body needs it to.
It also solves a second problem most golfers never even knew they had. When you stand over a conventional putter in a square stance, your dominant eye sits behind and inside the ball — causing your brain to calculate the target line from the wrong angle. The result is parallax error — you aim correctly and the ball still misses. The Yip Stick's stance geometry places your dominant eye directly over the target line, so what you see at address is exactly where the ball will go.
Why Littlewood Golf
This company carries the name of my grandfather — C.B. Littlewood — a man who understood what it meant to work toward something that mattered. Naming this company after him is my way of honoring that standard. Every putter that leaves Littlewood Golf is built to solve a real problem for a real golfer — not to be another option on a rack full of options that all look the same.
Littlewood Golf is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business — SDVOSB certified. It was built from personal experience, funded on faith, and designed around the golfer who has tried everything else and found nothing that worked.
If that sounds like you — you are in the right place.
